Computerized Telescopes

As children, looking up into the night sky can make a child wonder and dream. Why not take that wonder and make dreams seem reachable. A computerized telescope is an awesome gift for anybody, child or an adult, who shows an interest in astronomy, or who just likes to gaze upon the heavens during the night sky. Check out the planet Venus, the rings that surround Saturn, Jupiter’s cloud belts, the hundreds of beautiful star clusters and even the furthest of galaxies. Even the smallest of telescopes can see many extraordinary things, and they are rather very inexpensive. There are so many different styles and functions that computerized telescopes can offer any inspiring astronomer would be amazed at the things they can see. Astronomy doesn’t necessarily have to be a career dream. There are thousands of people that consider themselves as amateur astronomers and study the stars as a hobby using computerized telescopes, and can last for years to come.

Picking out the right computerized telescope can be quite difficult, especially with all the different models that are out there. Each telescope may bring a different function, and some with so many you may never use them. So how does one choose the right telescope for a beginner or a more advanced astronomer? This may be a difficult decision, especially if you are not an astronomer yourself. Who knows, you might start admiring the stars and become an amateur astronomer yourself while shopping for computerized telescopes for somebody else.

What you should look for in any type of telescope is whether you want a reflecting telescope or a refracting telescope. Reflecting telescopes is commonly used in modern astronomical research by professionals and by amateur astronomers who take astronomy very seriously. Reflecting telescopes use a mirror to gather together and focus the rays of light that travel through the telescope in parallel lines. The mirror then sends the rays into a singular line. That’s what the viewer sees when they look through the eyepiece. Reflecting telescopes are very sensitive to the elements and constant care is needed. They require careful cleaning and frequent readjusting. The one positive good thing about reflecting telescopes is that they don’t distort any color, unlike the refractor telescope.

Now the refracting telescopes are perfect for beginner astronomy enthusiasts. It’s easy to maintain and very reliable. Most refracting telescopes are used just for spotting before a more a powerful telescope can be used to view and gather information. The refracting telescope works by bending rays of light using a glass lens and then the viewer can focus manually while viewing through the eyepiece.
